Rough Sleeping Outreach Support

Hosted by City of York Council, we will provide an overview of the work the Rough Sleeper Navigator Team carry out, including linking in with the wider homeless services, social care departments and external agencies. This will highlight the positive work carried out to safeguard individuals who are or at risk of rough sleeping.

Service-user experience of maternity services as an asylum seeker

Hosted by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, this session shares a mini biopic of women who have journeyed through maternity services whilst navigating the asylum process at the same time. It highlights the challenges faced and the increased risk through pregnancy and childbirth.

Hosted by City of York Safeguarding Children Partnership and City of York Safeguarding Adults Board, an overview of the York All-Age Autism and ADHD strategy published in 2025. This will include information on the development of the strategy, how lived experience shaped it and how we are progressing on implementing recommendations.

Emollient-related Fire Risk

Hosted by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service. Many vulnerable people use emollients but are they aware of the fire related warning, and do you include it within your risk assessments: #Know the Fire Risk.

The use of emollients significantly increases both the likelihood and severity of fire. When combined with other factors this risk is further heightened. This training session examines the emollient-related fire risk and outlines professional responsibilities in risk assessment, advice, and safeguarding. It will equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to provide clear, consistent guidance and help keep vulnerable individuals safe.

Times: 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Target audience: Parents and Carers, Professionals, Community members/local businesses.

York’s Drug and Alcohol Service

Hosted by Change, Grow, Live. An overview of York’s drug and alcohol services, including our local offer and focus on hidden harm, particularly the impact on children affected by parental or family substance misuse.

Also covers local trends and a brief overview of harm reduction, with a spotlight on key substances: alcohol, cannabis, THC/spice, and ketamine.

Trauma Informed Practice in Safeguarding Adults

Hosted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council Adult Services. A short introductory workshop that builds understanding of trauma, explores the principles of trauma informed practice, recognises its impacts, and considers practical ways, personally and organisationally to work safely, effectively, and supportively.
